Howard 53, Mount Vernon/Plankinton 47

MITCHELL — Howard held off Mount Vernon/Plankinton for a Hanson Classic girls basketball win on Saturday.

Howard’s Abby Aslesen led the way with 17 points and nine rebounds. Kate Connor added 14 points and five boards. Rylee Rudebusch logged 12 points and eight rebounds. Trinity Palmquist had five points. 

MVP’s Emilee Fox finished with 12 points on four 3-pointers. Reagan Rus, Berkeley Engelland and Cally Faulhaber scored nine points apiece. Engelland grabbed 11 rebounds. Kiya Schmidt scored six points. 

 

 

Vermillion 53, Wagner 52

MITCHELL — Class A No. 4 Vermillion edged Class A No. 1 Wagner at the Hanson Classic in girls basketball action on Saturday.

Vermillion’s Leah Herbster scored 16 points, while Taylor Reuvers scored 12 points and dished out four assists. Chandler Cleveland logged 10 points. Kasey Hanson and Brooke Jensen scored nine and six points, respectively. 

Wagner’s Ashley Koupal recorded 16 points and 11 rebounds. Emma Yost added 15 points and 14 boards. Shalayne Nagel and Lydia Yost scored six points apiece. Macy Koupal posted five points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Colman-Egan 48, Corsica-Stickney 37

MITCHELL — Colman-Egan jumped out to a 14-8 first-quarter lead en route to a Hanson Classic girls basketball win on Saturday.

Colman-Egan’s Lanie Mousel recorded 16 points, five steals and five rebounds. Kaylee Voelker added 12 points and four rebounds. Brynlee Landis pitched in with six points, while Abby Rhode had five points. Berkley Groos had seven rebounds. 

Corsica-Stickney’s Payton DeLange scored 14 points, while Avery Broughton scored 13 points. Sutten Eide posted five points and five rebounds. 

Arlington 59, Centerville 55

MITCHELL — Three players scored in double figures as Arlington upset Class B No. 3 Centerville for a Hanson Classic girls basketball win on Saturday.

Arlington’s Harley Johnson led with 17 points and four assists, while Addalyn Steffensen tallied 15 points and nine rebounds. Jaelyn Huntimer had 12 points, while Jolyssa Steffensen added six points.

Centerville’s Thea Gust and Lillie Eide each had 13 points, while Eide added eight rebounds. MaKayla Heesch logged 10 points and eight rebounds, while Bailey Hansen grabbed 13 rebounds.

Hanson 49, Castlewood 42

MITCHELL — In a back and forth affair, Hanson picked up a girls basketball win over Castlewood at the Hanson Classic on Saturday.

Hanson’s Kylie Haiar finished with 14 points and six rebounds. Annalyse Weber added 14 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals. Alyssa Moschell had eight points and six rebounds. Eliza Oltmanns had six points and five rebounds. Taziah Hawkins had five points. 

Castlewood’s Madeline Horn recorded 18 points and seven rebounds. Gracie Haug had nine points, six rebounds and five steals. Mackenzie Everson had eight points, seven assists and five rebounds.

St. Thomas More 54, Flandreau 34

MITCHELL — Reese Ross and Sloane Keszler combined for 36 points to pace St. Thomas More to a Hanson Classic girls basketball win on Saturday.

Ross finished with 23 points, 11 rebounds and four 3-pointers. Keszler added 13 points. Gabby Robbins logged six points and five rebounds. Makenna Jacobson and Jada Mollman scored five points apiece. 

Flandreau’s Lily Klein recorded 18 points, while Lizzie Pavlis scored eight points and grabbed five rebounds. 

Florence/Henry 63, Parkston 42

MITCHELL — Three players scored in double figures to pace Florence/Henry to a Hanson Classic girls basketball win on Saturday.

Florence/Henry’s Caylin Kelly finished with 18 points and five rebounds. Reese Schmidt added 15 points. Trinity Watson scored 11 points. Haley Hlavecek and Taylor Watson had eight and six points, respectively. 

Parkston’s Mya Thuringer scored 12 points and Abby Hohn added 10 points. Berkley Ziebart scored nine points, while Faith Oakley had eight points.
