Sioux Valley 70, Lower Brule 69

VOLGA — Sioux Valley built a 10-point fourth-quarter lead and held off Class B No. 4 Lower Brule for a boys basketball win on Monday. 

Damian Danzeisen led the Cossacks with 18 points on 6 of 10 shooting from the 3-point line. Oliver Vincent and Alec Squires scored 17 points apiece. Vincent hit five 3-pointers and dished out seven assists, while Squires collected 15 boards. Hayden Ruesink scored 13 points and grabbed five rebounds. Parker Puetz added five points and eight assists. 

Lower Brule’s Brian LaRoche Jr., scored a game-high 26 points, hit six 3-pointers and handed out four assists. Keshaume Thigh added 23 points, collected eight steals and nailed four 3-pointers. Gavin Thigh logged nine points, four assists and four steals. Lane Gray scored seven points.  

Flandreau 68, Sioux Falls Christian 65 (OT)

FLANDREAU — Tash Lunday had a monster double-double as Class A No. 4 Flandreau edged Sioux Falls Christian in a boys basketball overtime game on Monday. 

Lunday led Flandreau with 33 points and 16 rebounds. Lunday banked in a deep 3-pointer as time expired in regulation to send it into overtime. Liam Streitz scored 16 points, while Chase LeBrun added 11 points and eight boards. 

Sioux Falls Christian’s Ethan Bruns scored 18 points and Nathan Koole had 16 points. Brooks Nelson added 12 points. 

Lyman 65, Stanley County 57

FORT PIERRE — Lyman drilled 11 3-pointers and held off Stanley County for a boys basketball win on Monday. 

Toby Estes led Lyman with 17 points, 10 rebounds and five 3-pointers. Sam McClanahan added 16 points, five rebounds and four 3-pointers. Colton Collins, Jacob Sazue and Isaac Thomas scored 10 points apiece. Collins added five boards. 

Stanley County’s Lathan Prince posted 17 points, while Cormac Duffy added 15 points. Stran Scott tallied 11 points and six rebounds. Gavin Irving scored eight points. 

Hanson 58, Chamberlain 48

ALEXANDRIA — Hanson turned a two-point halftime deficit into a 10-point boys basketball win over Chamberlain on Monday. 

Noah Price led the Beavers with 20 points and nine rebounds. Ethan Cheeseman and Luke Haiar added 16 points apiece. Jackson Jarding recorded five steals. 

Chamberlain’s Ethan Balestat and Sellyck McManus scored 12 points apiece. Dakota Munger added 11 points. 

Winner 75, Crow Creek 42

WINNER — Class A No. 3 Winner raced past Crow Creek for a boys basketball win on Monday.

Winner’s Blake Volmer scored 21 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists, while Slade Cournoyer tallied 15 points, six rebounds, and eight assists. Shawn Hammerbeck added 12 points.

Crow Creek’s Talyn Comes Flying scored 10 points and seven rebounds, while Jeremiah Shields added eight points.

Mount Vernon/Plankinton 54, McCook Central/Montrose 49 

MOUNT VERNON — Reed Rus logged a double-double as Mount Vernon/Plankinton outlasted McCook Central/Montrose for a boys basketball win on Monday. 

Rus led the Titans with 25 points and 11 rebounds, while Jordan Stoltz added 10 points, six rebounds and three blocked shots. Lincoln Klooz finished with seven points, while Zach Baker scored five points. Mason Hetland added eight rebounds and four points. 

MCM’s Gavin Gordon scored 16 points, while Cody Miles and Micah Van Ruler scored 11 points apiece.

Madison 62, Milbank 54

MADISON — Aiden Jensen and Nate Ricke combined for 38 points and 19 rebounds to pace Madison to a boys basketball win over Milbank on Monday. 

Jensen finished with 28 points and 15 boards, while Ricke added 10 points, five assists and four rebounds. Aspen Dahl recorded eight points, while Mickale Dohrer had six points. Cody Klein scored five points. 

Milbank’s Stevie Ash finished with 14 points, while Bennett Schwenn had 11 points. Garrett Mertens added 10 points. Justus Osborn and Kellen Hoeke posted six points apiece, while Osborn had five rebounds. 

Tri-Valley 55, Baltic 52

COLTON — Tri-Valley held off Baltic for a boys basketball win on Monday.

Tri-Valley’s Cory McDonald scored 24 points, while Lance DeWitt added 10 points.

Baltic’s Mark Ditter scored 19 points, while Gunner Schultz tallied 17 points.

Hamlin 78, Canton 72

HAYTI — Hamlin hit 13 3-pointers and used a 27-12 third quarter to pick up a boys basketball win over Canton on Monday. 

Brennan Keszler and Tyson Stevenson led the Chargers with 21 points apiece. Stevenson hit three 3-pointers. Dawson Noem added 17 points and recorded five 3-pointers. Rylan Bawdon tallied 13 points and hit four 3-pointers. Easton Neuendorf scored six points.

Canton’s Jacob Vande Weerd scored a game-high 27 points, while Matt Anderson tossed in 15 points. Derek Tieszen tallied 14 points, while Payton Eben scored seven points and Braxton Mulder had six points. 

Beresford 71, Wagner 54

BERESFORD — Beresford broke away from a 32-32 halftime tie for a boys basketball win over Wagner on Monday. 

Beresford’s Tate VanOtterloo tossed in 20 points, while Ashton Tjaden scored 12 points. Andrew Atwood and Jake Goblirsch finished with nine points apiece. Cameron Wells had eight points and Peyton Peterson scored seven points. 

Chris Nelson led Wagner with 17 points, while Toby Zephier added 11 points. Dustin Honomichl scored 10 points, while Matt Link added six points. Ted Slaba had five points.

Girls basketball 

Menno 32, Freeman Academy/Marion 30

MENNO — Menno outscored Freeman Academy/Marion 15-10 in the fourth quarter to secure a Region 5B girls basketball win on Monday. 

Grace Nusz led the Wolves with 10 points and eight rebounds. Abby Bender posted eight points, while Paityn Huber logged six points and seven rebounds. Bridget Vaith finished with eight rebounds and three points. 

FAM’s Alivea Weber logged 11 points and eight rebounds. Kallie Johnson tallied seven points, while Jada Koerner had three blocked shots, six points and eight rebounds. Leah Goodwin added six rebounds and Estelle Waltner grabbed five boards. 

Menno plays Centerville in the next round Tuesday. 

Potter County 47, Sunshine Bible Academy 9

GETTYSBURG — Potter County cruised past Sunshine Bible Academy for a Region 2B girls basketball win on Monday.

Tyler Simon scored 15 points, while Kayden Cronin recorded a triple-double of 14 points, 10 rebounds and 10 steals. Peyton Stevens added seven points.

SBA’s Betra Amare scored three points.
