Winner 56, Parkston 51

PARKSTON — Winner hit nine 3-pointers and held off Parkston for a boys basketball win on Thursday. 

Blake Volmer led the Warriors with 17 points and eight rebounds. Slade Cournoyer added eight points and six assists. Jackson Vesely and Aiden Barfuss scored seven points apiece. Ethan Bartels and Elijah Peterson scored six points apiece. Bartels added five rebounds and three assists. 

Parkston’s Cole Prunty posted 13 points, while Will Jodozi added 11 points and seven rebounds. Kaleb Weber tossed in 10 points, while Max Scott added nine points and 12 boards. 

James Valley Christian 90, McIntosh 56

HURON — Three players scored in double figures to power James Valley Christian to a boys basketball win over McIntosh on Thursday at the Huron Classic. 

JVC’s Landon Wallman finished with 26 points, six 3-pointers and five rebounds. Jerrad Wallman recorded 22 points on 10 of 11 shooting from the field. Landon Wager added 17 points, seven steals and four assists. Brennen Hood and Ethan Bartholow scored nine points apiece. Dax Frandsen finished with five points. 

McIntosh’s Charles Taken Alive netted 22 points, while Alex Archambault tossed in 14 points. Daniel Demery added 11 points. Christian Campbell scored five points. 

Langford Area 63, Iroquois/Doland 30

HURON — Jesse Keough and Brayden Peterson combined for 32 points to lead Langford Area to a boys basketball victory over Iroquois/Doland on Thursday at the Huron Classic.

Keough finished with 22 points and nine rebounds. Peterson added 10 points, while Jackson Bahr added nine points. Kassen Keough added eight points, while Benjamin Gustafson logged six points and six rebounds. 

Iroquois/Doland’s Logan Peskey scored 15 points, all from the 3-point line. Haydon Shurson added eight points and five rebounds.

Burke 57, Wessington Springs 46

HURON — Burke broke a 17-17 first quarter tie to pull away from Wessington Springs for a boys basketball win on Thursday at the Huron Classic.

Burke’s Bryce Frank led all scorers with 22 points, nine rebounds, and three assists. Ben Witt scored 19 points, while Brogan Glover recorded nine points and six rebounds.

Wessington Springs was led by Mason Schelske with 18 points and six rebounds, while Blake Larson added 12 points and six rebounds.

Elkton-Lake Benton 68, Redfield 31

HURON — Elkton-Lake Benton used a 27-point fourth quarter to pull away from Redfield for a boys basketball win on Thursday at the Huron Classic.

Miles Harming led all scorers with 20 points and five rebounds. Ryan Krog and Lane Thompson each scored seven points, while Aiden Erickson dished out four assists.

Nolan Gall and Jerron Haider each scored nine points, while Paul Juarez added seven points.

Clark/Willow Lake 53, Lower Brule 52

HURON — Clark/Willow Lake narrowly defeated Class B No. 4 Lower Brule in a boys basketball game at the Huron Classic on Thursday.

Kaplan Felberg finished with 18 points, while Noah Boykin added 14 points and seven rebounds. Brady Jordan and Trey Huber each scored nine points.

Lower Brule’s Keshaume Thigh led all scorers with 21 points and five rebounds. Gavin Thigh recorded 10 points and seven rebounds, while Brian LaRoche Jr. added nine points. Ellwyn Langdeau finished with seven points and six rebounds. 

Ipswich 68, Wall 35

WOLSEY — Ipswich outscored Wall in every quarter to win a boys basketball game on Thursday at the Big Bo Classic.

Trevor Beyers led Ipswich with 18 points, while Taylor Thorson scored 11 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Ian Beyers added 10 points, while Jace Konsor scored nine points. Ty Kadlec recorded eight assists.

Wall’s Cayne Krogman scored 11 points and five rebounds, while Brodi Sundall added nine points. Reid Hansen contributed eight points and nine rebounds.

Kadoka Area 76, Dupree 28

WOLSEY — Dawson Reckling netted 25 points to power Kadoka Area to a boys basketball win over Dupree on Thursday at the Big Bo Classic. 

Reckling added seven rebounds and six assists. Jon MacFeat finished with 12 points, while Garrett Hermann and Gus Stout scored 11 points apiece. Layne Palmer scored seven points and Kash Block added six points. Hermann added six rebounds and Palmer grabbed five boards. Stout logged six steals. 

Dupree’s Todd LaPlante scored eight points and Bobby Brewer added six points. 

Aberdeen Central 56, Watertown 41

ABERDEEN — Four players scored in double figures to lead Aberdeen Central to a boys basketball win over Watertown on Thursday. 

Sam Rohlfs finished with 14 points, five rebounds and four steals. A.J. Hase added 13 points and hit three 3-pointers. Alec Voegele tossed in 10 points and grabbed six rebounds. Spencer Barr and Brady Rohrbach scored eight and seven points, respectively. Rohrbach grabbed nine boards. 

Watertown’s Devon Lewis scored 14 points and nailed four 3-pointers. Reese Stark added 13 points and eight rebounds. Jake Olson scored six points. 

Sioux Falls O’Gorman 65, Tea Area 64

TEA — Class AA No. 2 Sioux Falls O’Gorman used a balanced scoring attack to offset Cael Lundin’s outstanding individual performance in boys basketball action on Thursday.

Matt Eng led the Knights with 17 points, while Manny Struck scored 12 points and John Costello added 11 points. Rush Landry had nine points and five rebounds. Chad Ambroz added nine points, while David Alpers finished with five points and six rebounds. 

Lundin erupted for 38 points on 14 of 27 shooting from the field. Sam Almas scored 13 points and hit three 3-pointers. Jeff Worth added nine points, while Reis Kirschenman had eight rebounds and three blocked shots. 

Hanson 52, Irene-Wakonda 49

ALEXANDRIA — Hanson narrowly defeated Irene-Wakonda in a boys basketball game on Thursday.

Ethan Cheeseman led all scorers with 23 points and nine rebounds, while Noah Price had 13 points.

Irene-Wakonda’s Conner Libby had 13 points. Miles Pollman scored 11 points and Jake Kuhl added 10 points.

Faulkton Area 68, Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 47

HURON — Bennett Cassens and Hunter Niederbaumer scored 21 points apiece in Faulkton Area’s boys basketball win over Sanborn Central/Woonsocket at the Huron Classic on Thursday.

Cassens hit seven 3-pointers and Niederbaumer grabbed seven rebounds. Layne Cotton had 10 points and seven boards, while Roman DiMaria scored 10 points. Simon Bowar tossed in six points. 

SCW’s Tryce Slykhuis scored 21 points and nailed four 3-pointers. Hayden Beigh finished with 11 points and hit three 3-pointers. Toby Kneen recorded eight points and six rebounds. 

Waubay/Summit 61, Wilmot 37

WILMOT — Damon Opdahl’s triple-double helped Waubay/Summit pull away from Wilmot for a boys basketball win on Thursday.

Opdahl finished with 20 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 steals. Jonathan Johnston scored 18 points and rebounds, while Seth Gaikowski added eight points. J Gulbraa scored seven points and five rebounds.

Wilmot’s Trey Jurgens finished with 28 points.

Girls basketball

Parkston 45, Winner 36

PARKSTON — Parkston picked up a girls basketball win over Winner on Thursday.

Parkston’s Allison Ziebart finished with 17 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Faith Oakley scored 12 points and six rebounds and Brielle Bruening added six points.

Bella Swedlund led Winner with 13 points and seven rebounds. Kelsey Sachtjen finished with 11 points and five rebounds and Ellie Brozik added six points and five rebounds.

Dupree 55, Ipswich 41

WOLSEY — Dupree pulled away from Ipswich for a girls basketball win at the Big Bo Classic on Thursday. 

Taylee Jewett led the Tigers with 24 points, including three 3-pointers. McKadyn Chasing Hawk scored 10 points and Daci Lends His Horse netted nine points. 

Ipswich’s Kaylee Bierman finished with 22 points, four assists, three steals and three 3-pointers. Karlie Gohl recorded six points.

Kadoka Area 41, Northwestern 39

WOLSEY — Kadoka Area edged Northwestern for a girls basketball win on Thursday at the Big Bo Classic.

Rebecca Shuck led Kadoka Area with 17 points, while Isabella Williams scored nine points. Breezy Amiotte added eight points. 

Ashley Haven led Northwestern with 13 points. Faith Larson scored nine points and nine rebounds, and Emma Grandpre added nine points and six rebounds.

Gayville-Volin 62, Bon Homme 50

TYNDALL — Molly Larson and Taylor Hoxeng scored 20 points apiece to lead Gayville-Volin to a girls basketball win over Bon Homme on Thursday. 

Bon Homme’s Jurni Vavruska finished with 18 points and three steals. Jaden Kortan added nine points, while Olivia Bures had five rebounds and three steals. 

Waubay/Summit 30, Wilmot 26

WILMOT — Waubay/Summit edged Wilmot in a girls basketball game on Thursday.

Zoey Wohlleber finished with 10 points, while Eva Benike and Tasha Zirbel each scored seven points.

Wilmot’s Marissa Getzlaff tallied 11 points, while Madeline Remund finished with eight points.

Wolsey-Wessington 56, Potter County 39

WOLSEY — Three players scored in double figures to lead Wolsey-Wessington to a girls basketball win over Potter County on Thursday. 

Leah Williams scored 19 points and Hailey Clarke had 14 points. Mya Boomsma tossed in 13 points and Lainey Uttecht scored six points. Williams added eight steals and Clarke dished out four assists. Clarke and Maci Luce grabbed five rebounds apiece. 

Potter County’s Tyler Simon netted nine points, while Ashlee Kaup scored eight points. Zoe Meinke added seven points and Kayden Cronin scored six points. 

Hanson 47, Irene-Wakonda 38

ALEXANDRIA — Hanson used a 17-13 fourth quarter to pull away from Irene-Wakonda in girls basketball action on Thursday.

Annalyse Weber finished with 17 points and six rebounds. Erin Dewald scored seven points and Alyssa Moschell scored six points. Karlie Goergen and Eliza Oltmanns grabbed five rebounds apiece. 

Irene-Wakonda’s Emma Marshall tossed in a game-high 18 points. Nora O’Malley scored eight points and Madison Orr added six points.
