Boys basketball 

Platte-Geddes 65, Burke 53

PLATTE — Jackson Neuman and Caden Foxley each recorded a double-double to help Platte-Geddes secure a win over Burke on Thursday.

Neuman finished with 14 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists, while Foxley scored 12 points and 12 rebounds. Tanner Dyk added 11 points and Cade Nachtigal had 8 points.

Burke’s Ben Witt finished with 16 points, while Reed Benter recorded 14 points and Bryce Frank scored 11 points. 

Bridgewater-Emery 49, Menno 41

MENNO — Bridgewater-Emery nipped Menno in a boys basketball contest on Thursday.

Koby Kayser netted a game-high 27 points and Aguer Van Sickle tossed in 10 points. 

Menno’s Kadeyn Ulmer had eight points and four rebounds. Hayden McNinch added seven points and eight boards. 

De Smet 68, Estelline/Hendricks 17

DE SMET — Three players scored in double figures to lead Class B No. 1 De Smet to a boys basketball win over Estelline/Hendricks on Thursday. 

Kalen Garry led the Bulldogs with 20 points, four rebounds and three steals. Tory Holland added 13 points and five rbounds. Rett Osthus finished with 10 points, while Damon Wilkinson had eight points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots. Blake Van Regenmorter finished with four points and six rebounds. Gannon Gruenhagen had six points and Colt Wilkinson grabbed five rebounds. 

Estelline/Hendricks’ Braxton Saathoff finished with eight points and six rebounds. 

Centerville 36, Avon 28

CENTERVILLE — Centerville topped Avon in a boys basketball contest on Thursday. 

Logan Bobzin led the Tornadoes with 13 points. Alec Austin finished with eight points and eight boards. Aiden Bobzin and Owen Hunter scored five points apiece. 

Avon’s Riley Rucktaeschel scored nine points. Eli Watchorn and Lincoln Thury scored six points apiece. 

Wessington Springs 62, Hitchcock-Tulare 50

HITCHCOCK — Wessington Springs used a 19-13 fourth quarter to secure a boys basketball win over Hitchcock-Tulare on Thursday.

Blake Larson led the Spartans with 17 points. Mason Schleske finished with 15 points and Cade Mohling finished with 13 points. A.J. Neely and Brock Krueger scored eight points apiece. 

Hitchcock-Tulare’s Jackson Maynard recorded 20 points, while Zach Gilbert scored 15 points. T.J. Salmen added 10 points. 

Castlewood 85, Arlington 56

ARLINGTON — Four players scored in double figures to lead Castlewood to a boys basketball win over Arlington on Thursday.

Carson Kirwan led the Warriors with 23 points and nine rebounds. Byron Laue logged 16 points and six rebounds. Tristan Nielsen recorded 11 points and six rebounds. Bokker Schooney finished with 10 points, six assists and five rebounds. Jackson Schofield finished with eight points, while Lane Tvedt had five points, six rebounds and four assists. 

Arlington’s Ryker Erstad tossed in a game-high 32 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Blake Madsen had 12 points and seven rebounds. Caden Letsche added six points and five rebounds. Britt Carlson finished with seven rebounds and four points. 

Elk Point-Jefferson 63, Parker 45

ELK POINT — Elk Point-Jefferson received a balanced scoring attack to secure a boys basketball win over Parker on Thursday. 

Chace Fornia finished with nine points and 10 rebounds. Landon Geary, Jakob Scarmon, Evan Fornia and Alexander Scarmon scored eight points apiece. Geary grabbed seven rebounds, while Easton Kempf had five points, 11 rebounds and four assists. 

Parker stats were not reported. 

Flandreau 58, Beresford 29

FLANDREAU — Tash Lunday and Chase LeBrun each recorded a double-double to lead Flandreau to a home win over Beresford on Thursday. 

Lunday finished with 24 points and 14 rebounds, while LeBrun recorded 15 points and 10 rebounds. Alex Anderson had 11 points and five assists.

Beresford’s Tate VanOtterloo finished with nine points and Ashton Tjaden scored seven points.

Sioux Falls Jefferson 63, Brandon Valley 43

SIOUX FALLS — Sioux Falls Jefferson picked up a boys basketball win over Brandon Valley on Thursday. 

Kaden Year led the Cavaliers with 25 points and eight rebounds, while Taylen Ashley finished with a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds. 

Brandon Valley’s Jameson Kreutzfeldt scored 10 points, while Nate Vandeberg recorded nine points.

Girls basketball 

Flandreau 48, Beresford 21

FLANDREAU — Class A No. 4 Flandreau picked up a girls basketball win over Beresford on Thursday. 

Claire Sheppard led Flandreau with 12 points, five rebounds and five assists. Lizzie Pavlis and Bella Pavlis scored 12 and 11 points, respectively. Lilly Klein collected eight rebounds. 

Beresford’s Ella Merriman scored nine points. 

De Smet 46, Estelline/Hendricks 17

DE SMET — Kennadi Buchholz logged a double-double to pace De Smet to a girls basketball win over Estelline/Hendricks on Thursday.

Buchholz finished with 20 points, 19 rebounds and seven steals. Jada Burke added 10 points and nine rebounds. Cori Birkel scored six points. 

Sadie Johnson finished with eight points for Estelline/Hendricks. 

Corsica-Stickney 49, Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 30

FORESTBURG — Avery Broughton stuffed the stat sheet to lead Class B No. 2 Corsica-Stickney to a road win over Sanborn Central/Woonsocket on Thursday.

Broughton finished with 21 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Rachel Gerlach added 13 points and eight rebounds. 

For Sanborn Central/Woonsocket, Trinity Boschee scored 11 points, while Trista White finished with nine points.

Hitchcock-Tulare 41, Wessington Springs 29

HITCHCOCK — Hitchcock-Tulare pulled away from Wessington Springs for a girls basketball win on Thursday. 

Katelyn Schroeder finished with 16 points and eight rebounds. Madison Hofer tossed in 11 points, while Jessica Godfrey finished with nine points. 

Wessington Springs’ Alyssa Grohs had nine points, while Avery Orth and Kirstie Munson scored eight points apiece. Carissa Scheel finished with eight rebounds. 

Andes Central/Dakota Christian 61, Gayville-Volin 41

GAYVILLE — Andes Central/Dakota Christian picked up a 20-point girls basketball victory over Gayville-Volin on Thursday. 

Allison Muckey led the way with 21 points, nine rebounds, five steals and four rebounds. Josie Brouwer finished with 16 points, while Halle Olson had nine points and seven rebounds. Kylie Olson had five steals. 

Gayville-Volin’s Molly Larson scored 16 points, while Taylor Hoxeng had 13 points and five steals. Jaden Hubbard grabbed 10 rebounds. Liz Marshall and Maia Achen grabbed eight rebounds apiece. 

Centerville 56, Avon 43

CENTERVILLE — Centerville picked up a win over Avon in girls basketball action on Thursday.

Thea Gust led Centerville with 24 points and nine rebounds, while Mikayla Heesch scored 11 points and Lillie Eide recorded 10 points. Bailey Hansen had 12 rebounds. For Avon, Courtney Sees recorded 13 points, while Tiffany Pelton scored 11 points and McKenna Kochmich finished with six points.

Elkton-Lake Benton 56, Lake Preston 27

ELKTON — Elkton-Lake Benton’s Tevan Erickson tossed in 24 points in a girls basketball win over Lake Preston on Thursday. 

Erickson hit five 3-pointers, while Kylie Ramlo added 13 points. Andrea Renkly finished with eight points and Rachael Krog had six points. Krog added five rebounds and six steals. 

Lake Preston’s Hadlee Holt scored 11 points, while Faith Steffensen scored six points. 

Highmore-Harrold 47, Potter County 41

HIGHMORE — Highmore-Harrold held off Potter County in a girls basketball contest on Thursday.

Grace Knox finished with 20 points and seven rebounds, while Letha Jessen scored 15 points. Maddie Knox added five points and seven rebounds. 

Potter County’s Ashlee Kaup finished with 11 points and Tyler Simon scored 10 points. Zoe Meinke tossed in nine points. 

Arlington 50, Castlewood 41

ARLINGTON — Three players scored in double figures to pace Arlington to a girls basketball win over Castlewood on Thursday. 

Hadley Carlson recorded 15 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Addalyn Steffensen had 11 points, seven rebounds and four steals. Jolyssa Steffensen had 10 points. Harley Johnson logged seven points and five boards. 

Castlewood’s Madeline Horn logged 17 points and 10 boards. Presley Knecht posted 10 points and six rebounds. Mackenzie Everson finished with seven points, five rebounds and five steals. Ella Hunter finished with six points and four rebounds. 

Scotland 53, Bon Homme 50

SCOTLAND — Scotland edged Bon Homme in a girls basketball game on Thursday.

Martina DeBoer scored 13 points and five assists, while Delanie VanDriel recorded a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds. Claire Janish and Trinity Bietz each scored eight points.

Bon Homme’s Jurni Vavruska scored 16 points, while Olivia Bares finished with 13 points and seven rebounds. Camille Sykora recorded nine points.

Lennox 52, Madison 46

LENNOX — Lennox edged Madison in a girls basketball contest on Thursday. 

Dani Highum scored 16 points and Andie Peters tossed in 14 points. Alicia Ruud added 10 points. 

Madison’s Audrey Nelson finished with 14 points and Zoey Gerry scored 13 points. Kaitlyn Sewell added 12 points. 

Elk Point-Jefferson 52, Parker 27

ELK POINT — Elk Point-Jefferson topped Parker in a girls basketball game on Thursday.

Bentlee Kollbaum scored 12 points and Kaitlyn VanRoekel had 10 points. Josie Curry added eight points and eight rebounds.

Parker’s Ellie Travnicek and Janae Olson each scored six points.
