De Smet's Kalen Garry commits to Jackrabbits

De Smet’s Kalen Garry announced his intentions Monday to play college basketball at South Dakota State University. 

Garry tweeted “I am excited to announce my commitment to further my academic and athletic career at SDSU! I thank my family, teammates, coaches and community for all the support! Go Jacks!”


Garry, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard, is a three-time all-stater, including a two-time first-team honoree. He guided the Bulldogs to the 2021 Class B state championship in March.

Last season, he averaged 23 points, seven rebounds and three assists per game. This season, he’s averaging 25 points per game through De Smet’s 4-1 start. He’s already De Smet’s all-time leading scorer with 1,740 career points.
