St. Thomas More 48, Wagner 35

BROOKINGS — St. Thomas More used an aggressive defense to hold off top-seeded Wagner for a semifinal win in the Class A tournament on Friday.

Reese Ross powered the Cavaliers with 23 points and 17 rebounds. Mairin Duffy scored 11 points and four rebounds, while Jada Mollman tallied five points and four rebounds. Gabby Robbins added four points and four assists.

St. Thomas More will play for the Class A championship against Hamlin on Saturday.

Wagner was led by Emma Yost with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Ashlyn Koupal scored 13 points and seven rebounds. Shalayne Nagel added six points.

Wagner will play West Central in the third place game on Saturday.

Hamlin 52, West Central 38

BROOKINGS — Hamlin is back in the Class A championship. 

The Chargers outscored West Central 19-6 in the fourth quarter to pull away from No. 2 seed West Central on Friday and will meet up with St. Thomas More after the fifth seed knocked off No. 1 seed Wagner earlier in the evening.

Brooklyn Brandriet led the Chargers with 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds while Kami Wadsworth added 13 points. 

Rylee Haldeman led West Central with 14 points and Tabor Teel added 10 points. 

Hamlin took an early 11-9 lead after the first quarter before West Central held a two-point advantage (22-20) at halftime. The Chargers would regain the lead and held a 33-32 lead heading into the fourth quarter. 

Red Cloud 64, Lakota Tech 44

BROOKINGS — Red Cloud rebounded from a tough opening day loss at the Class A tourney picking up a win Friday in the consolation semifinals. 

Stevi Fallis continued her torrid scoring, knocking down four 3-pointers on her way to a team high 27 points while grabbing six rebounds. Sharissa Haas scored 12 points and five rebounds. Allison Richards scored nine points and dished out a game high six assists. 

The Crusaders play Dakota Valley on Saturday in the consolation championship.

Lakota Tech’s Tobi Carlow led the Tatanka with 18 points and a team leading three assists. Jodene Hunter scored nine points and grabbed six rebounds. 

Lakota Tech plays Sioux Falls Christian on Saturday in the seventh place game. 

Dakota Valley 47, Sioux Falls Christian 42

BROOKINGS — Dakota Valley held off Sioux Falls Christian for a consolation semifinal win at the Class A tournament on Friday.

Peyton Tritz led the Panthers with 19 points, while Rylee Rosenquist recorded a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds, along with six assists.

Dakota Valley will play Red Cloud in the consolation championship on Saturday.

Sioux Falls Christian was led by Ellie Lems with 15 points, while Maya Nelson tallied nine points. Kylah vanDonkersgoed recorded seven points and six rebounds, while Moriah Harrison added five points and seven boards.

The Chargers will play Lakota Tech in the seventh place game on Saturday.
